Touch Research Institute was established in 1992 by Tiffany Field, Ph.D. at the University of Miami School of Medicine. TRI was the first center in the world devoted solely to the study of touch and its application in science and medicine. The TRI distinguished team of researchers strive to better define touch as it promotes health and contributes to the treatment of disease. Research efforts that began in 1982 and continue today have shown that touch therapy has numerous beneficial effects on health and well-being.
National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine is a valuable resource for research based information on treatments and conditions for both massage therapy and acupuncture. NCCAM is the Federal Government's lead agency for scientific research on complementary and alternative medicine.
Society for Oncology Massage is an international association of massage therapists who are specially trained to safely bring the healing powers of massage to oncology patients.
