A Day of Dinacharya: An Ayurvedic Program of Health, Wellness, and Freedom

This event will take place at The Hyde — a beautiful residence near Hume, VA. Driving time from Arlington is approximately 75 minutes. Exact address will be provided upon registration.
Join us for a full day of Dinacharya–a powerful way of living in harmony with the natural world that promotes a long, healthy, active and joyous life. These life-changing techniques have been practiced by Yogis and Vaidyas (sages and Ayurvedic doctors) for millennia, and work just as well today as they did when they were first practiced thousands of years ago. You will enjoy healthy food, practice revitalizing yoga, and leave the retreat with tools and techniques that enable radical transformation wherever you set your intentions.
The day will be divided into the essential rhythms of Dinacharya…
-Will begin the day in Kapha time, aligning with the predominant energy of the morning, where bonding and movement are well-supported. Over tea and fruit, we will get to know each other. Then, you will be introduced to some basic Ayurvedic principles before being guided through a powerful yoga practice of synchronized breath and movement designed to release Ama (translated as undigested material or toxins), free you from living on ‘autopilot’, and create wide open space in your physical and energetic bodies.
-Next, we flow with the daily rhythm directly into Pitta time. We will sit for a brief period of meditation to experience the clarity of the mind induced by the morning’s practice bolstered by the Pitta energy, followed by journaling and a nourishing plant-based lunch…including dessert! After lunch and a period of rest and digest, we will take advantage of the remaining Pitta time to the absorb the main teaching of the day, “Dinacharya as the Doorway to Lasting Vitality.”
-With your mind and body now well-fed, we will move into Vata time, which supports creativity and easeful living. There will be several ways you can tune your body to this final phase of the day, including a nature walk with forest bathing, vision boarding, free writing or just relaxing and ‘digesting’ your experience in the beautiful natural setting of The Hyde. Lastly, we will gather again for an Earthing QiGong practice that guides us into our closing ritual to transition “back to life” with a newfound sense of ease and alignment to the world around you and within you.
