Craniosacral Therapy is derived from original practices in osteopathic medicine and combined with modern awareness of quantum physics, consciousness studies, and depth physiology. Its practice is known to alleviate common issues of daily life such as headaches, joint pain, stress, and emotional trauma. Although practiced professionally by massage therapists and others, this modality has been used successfully by those in community settings who want to take healing into their own hands.
The study of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy unfolds new vistas of mind/body/spirit awareness and higher levels of clinical effectiveness. Its study has been known to transform individuals’ relationships to home and work. This practice also develops incredible levels of therapeutic precision by integrating traditional osteopathic manual skills with modern awareness in energy medicine.
Roger Gilchrist of the Wellness Institute and his teaching team of highly trained therapists instruct the 350-hour Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy professional training. This introductory course is taught by members of the Wellness Institute teaching team, designed to introduce practitioners to the basic skills and principles of craniosacral biodynamics. It is also geared toward the needs of individuals curious about healing modalities and energy medicine, and who wish to become more centered in their understanding of how to bring more health into their daily lives. Anyone interested in enrolling in Wellness Institute’s longer certification program should take an introductory course before the next program begins (Summer 2023).
About the Instructors:
Crystal Kaplan entered into healing work from a desire to help others discover their innate perfection and inherent health. She feels strongly that bringing awareness, acceptance and compassion to ourselves allows for physical and emotional healing. She is a practicing Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist, Licensed Massage Therapist, Usui Reiki Master, meditation guide and ordained minister.
Crystal moved to Washington D.C. from California in 1997 to attend graduate school, where she met her husband. Together, they joined the U.S. State Department as Foreign Service Officers in 1999. While working with Bhutanese and Tibetan refugees in Nepal and Palestinian refugees in the Middle East, Crystal began to hear the call to deepen her level of understanding, awareness, and compassion for herself and the world around her. Upon moving to Washington, D.C. in 2010, she began studying massage therapy, Reiki and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy. She graduated from the Potomac Massage Training Institute in 2011 and left the State Department in 2012 in order to devote herself fully to healing work.
Mary Maruca began her bodywork practice while pursuing a varied career in natural science writing and editing. She credits bodywork with grounding her more completely in her heart and Craniosacral Therapy with deepening her commitment to healthy natural systems, whether they are Earth or human focused.
She graduated from Potomac Massage Training Institute in 2009 as a licensed massage therapist and became a registered Biodynamic Craniosacral therapist in 2011. As a life-long learner, she seeks to keep refining and growing her bodywork skills in any arena that helps her clients increase the freedom and balance within their body/mind/spirit.
