When flu season is in full swing, you may be looking for more natural ways to ease symptoms like using Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils. As always, if your symptoms become severe or do not improve, check in with your healthcare provider.
But many people are able to support their bodies and use essential oils and other flu natural remedies to get through a flu episode.
Essential oils have been part of my daily health regimen for the past 5 years. I use them as my first line of defense when this time of year sets in.
I’m excited to share with you some tips and tricks on what we use in our family to keep our immune system healthy and supported and live our lives the best that they can be.
Whether you’re completely new to essential oils or looking to expand your comfort level with new oils, this list identifies some of the go-to oils for common winter and fall issues. As always, essential oils safety is important to understand, too. Not all oils are safe to ingest or apply to your skin. Your age, medications and pets in the house will also play into which oils are best for your household. It’s important to do your research and buy high-quality oils in order to use these products safely. I have done my own research and I personally use Doterra essential oils as I have found it to be one of the purest essential oil company on the market. Essential oils may be applied on the skin (dermal/ topical application), inhaled, diffused or taken internally, but it’s not always safe to use every oil in all of these ways. Some precautions are necessary, and certain oils should NOT be used topically, internally or by people with certain sensitivities.
The key with essential oils is consistency. You want to find places where you will see them at the time you need them. (next to your toothbrush, your bed stand, your kitchen counter…)
A long life full of vitality and healthy aging begins with providing your cells with essential nutrients and metabolic factors to help them perform optimally.
Here is what I take on a daily basis:
Whole food supplements – I take LLV (Life Long Vitality): formulated to provide nutritional support for healthy immune function. Alpha CRS +, xEO Mega®, and Microplex VMz® provide antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, co- factors of cellular energy production, and a proprietary blend of CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® essential oils.
DDR Prime Essential Oil Cellular Complex is a proprietary blend of essential oils that supports healthy cellular integrity.* The blend includes Clove, Thyme, and Wild Orange essential oils providing powerful antioxidants that help protect against oxidative stress. It also includes essential oils from Frankincense, Lemongrass, Summer Savory, and Niaouli. In a 10ml roller bottle put 20 drops of DDR Prime and fill the rest with fractioned coconut oil.
Frankincense EO to provide a healthy inflammatory response and strengthen our immune system. If in doubt, use Frankincense. Apply 1-2 drops behind your ears or drink 1-2 drops in a glass of water
Gut health: 70% of our immune system is found in our gut. So improving the health of your gut flora will improve your immune function, which will make your gut flora even happier. It’s really a win-win. Take a probiotic daily. I use Doterra PB Assist: Great gut support with live bacteria and prebiotics included.
Managing sleep: Peace blend, Serenity blend, Lavender EO
In a 10ml roller bottle add 25 drops Balance blend, 25 drops Serenity blend and 10 drops of Frankincense EO. Fill the remaining with Fraction coconut oil.
Managing Stress: Balance blend, Citrus Bliss blend, Lavender EO. These oils can be applied behind your ears or diffused in a diffuser. They can also be inhaled directly from your hands: Put 1-2 oils in one hand, rub your hands together and cup them in front of your nose. Inhale deeply. Repeat.
Other essential oils to support your immune system:
On Guard (protective blend) full of tough, fighting oils. Can be ingested, applied topically or diffused
On Guard sanitizing mist, On Guard drops, On Guard beadlets
Melaleuca EO , Oregano EO – Best to be applied topically. 2-3 drops Oregano can be added to an empty capsule and smallowed with water.
ESSENTIAL OIL PROTOCOL FOR THE FLU
1. Cold and Flu Bomb—For adults: 3 drops each of Lemon, OnGuard, Oregano, and Melaleuca in a capsule if infection is suspected. First day, take every 2 hours. Days 2 and on, every 4 hours until 2 days after all symptoms disappear.
2. Diffuse Breathe and/or OnGuard.
3. Use Breathe or Peppermint, 1-2 drops, diluted, applied on chest and throat for congestion. Can also use OnGuard throat drops
4. Drink lots of water. Add a drop of Lemon or
Peppermint for every glass to help fight the infection.
5. To prevent the flu: FLU SHOT IN A BOTTLE 10 DROPS OREGANO
15 DROPS ONGUARD
20 DROPS LEMON
Drop these in a 1/6 sized roller bottle. Fill the rest with fractioned coconut oil. Apply to feet morning and night
