Ayumi is a licensed massage therapist specialized in Swedish massage and Deep tissue massage.
She graduated from Potomac Massage Training Institute (PMTI) and soon after, began the fellowship program at the Teal Center.
Ayumi was exposed to massage at a very young age by frequently exchanging massages with her family members. Her favorite thing to do during college was going out to receive reflexology with her girlfriends. Additionally, throughout her life, she suffered from chronic health problems, such as hypoglycemia, eczema, and fatigue. Her interest in preventive and holistic health occurred very naturally, since she was constantly seeking treatment for these issues.
When she is not working at the Teal Center, Ayumi works as a dental assistant. Guided by great dentists and a massage therapist who are knowledgeable about temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ/TMD), Ayumi conducted a case study with the use of Neuromuscular Therapy techniques while she was a student at PMTI. This project really helped her to understand TMJ/TMD from dental and muscular aspects.
She believes that her life events and experiences all contributed to planting an interest, understanding, and appreciation of health care and becoming a massage therapist.
In each massage session, she strives to be a good listener because any small amount of information could be a key to treat a client efficiently and effectively. Ayumi’s goal is to help more and more people to have better body awareness and to motivate them to seek better wellbeing.
