Cathy has been a part of The Teal Center since 2004, first as a massage therapist specializing in neuromuscular therapy and dynamic movement, and now as a licensed acupuncturist. Her personal experience with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) sparked a deep desire to understand its remarkable ability to support health and vitality.
Cathy received her Master of Acupuncture degree from The Virginia University of Integrative Medicine. That rigorous training program prepared her for practice in a number of different styles of acupuncture as well as needle-free techniques such as cupping, guasha, and moxibustion. Her advanced specialty training includes:
- oncology acupuncture;
- orthopedic acupuncture; and
- dry needling/trigger point acupuncture.
With 20+ years of experience as a bodyworker, Cathy enjoys working with a wide population, from professional athletes to those living with chronic conditions. She compassionately, clearly, and simply guides her patients to a better understanding of their bodies and their health. She listens intently, cares deeply, and brings a wealth of compassionate insight to her patient relationships. Her practice and philosophy recognize that the body, mind, and spirit are inextricably linked. Cathy’s patients often describe her work as “intuitive,” but she believes that intuition is simply the result of clear communication combined with learned knowledge and embodied experience.
Each treatment is individually tailored to promote healing and restore balance, focusing on the problem or chief complaint, as well as constitutional (whole body/mind/spirit) support.
Please note that Cathy is only accepting new acupuncture patients and is no longer accepting new massage clients.
